The appointment of John Forster as the General Manager of Mercedes-Benz of Taunton has seen the motor retail specialist achieve a long-term goal to represent the prestigious brand at the highest level.

Influenced by his past experiences of Mercedes-Benz on a personal level and during his early career in motor leasing, John has had a desire to work for the acclaimed brand since progressing into the automotive retail industry 18 years ago. Prior to his appointment John enjoyed a number of General Manager positions with successful ‘volume’ automotive dealerships throughout the UK.

As well as relocating to Creech St Michael, to take up his role at the Toneway retailer and realising his career ambition, John has found further excitement in the extensive selection of models that Mercedes-Benz of Taunton has to offer, including the recently launched SLK-Class roadster and C-Class Coupé.

“I’m quickly becoming familiar with the entire Mercedes-Benz range and it’s advanced tremendously in terms of variation, quality and sheer driving appeal to be better than ever,” explained John, who takes entire responsibility for Mercedes-Benz of Taunton and heads-up a 30-strong team that has many years of brand and motor industry expertise.

“Mercedes-Benz of Taunton’s location, the future of the brand in terms of new product and the support of a very well respected dealer group combine to offer a fantastic career opportunity and one that I’m very excited about,” added the keen golfer.

John continued: “Mercedes-Benz of Taunton has rarely had a General Manager before and my appointment is part of the Group’s strategy to make sure that each of our four sites are operating successfully as one business and are in a position to improve customer service levels even further.

“It’s only a couple of weeks since I arrived but I can see there’s fantastic potential here and I’m really enjoying working with and meeting people who are so passionate about Mercedes-Benz.”
